"My Eyes... beware...I am cooking with a load of onions...I'm taking them out of the fridge now. Just placed them on the work space, right under a wide open window. I slowly peeled their first brown frail coat.
Careful now, I'll rip their outer pale yellow latex skin quickly...after that, my Eyes, you know what will happen...Are you ready?"
As I swiftly, savagely undressed 4 chubby perfectly round onions, their thick airborne venom spread in the restrained space between the chopping board and my poor eyes. Within a blink I was blind. An effusion of tears rolled down my cheeks, my nose was itchy..and then came the stinging, followed by burning pain, shooting through them, as if a bar of soap was crammed into each.
"It's ok, my Eyes, my poor little unwilling beholders of all evil, painful, sights, it'll be a moment...just help me finish with the chopping"
My Hands, suddenly alarmed, regained a certain nimbleness with the knife, and with vengeful strokes, reduced those four proud bellies to smithereens, tossed them in the pan, and left them to the fire to drain their poisons slowly.
"Now now, my Eyes, those devils are gone, calm down, embrace the light, feel the cool breeze soothing you..."
I splash my face with fresh crisp water.
As I dried my face, my Eyes, dropping more and more of their liquid loads, admitted that I should'nt have subjected them to such an ordeal. The dam they had built was slashed open because of my stomach's quest for onions...
That day, I gave up on cooking...
My Eyes have been weeping since, and will go on, forever.
Damn Onions!
At the end of the day,
At the end of the day, seeing things (or not) from the onion's perspective, you were the one with the really sharp knife! :)
